Muse of the Month

Jane Russell

It isn’t easy to choose who will be the first muse to be featured on this blog, however, I believe it is best to begin at the beginning.

When I was just a young girl I was introduced to the film “Son of Paleface” starring Bob Hope, Roy Rogers and Jane Russell. I was enchanted by Jane, her raven dark hair and the way her eyes somehow seemed to twinkle perfectly in the light was captivating. Making no mention of her “to die for”  wardrobe and sensual but  sarcastic way of speaking.

Jane was a sex symbol with a sharp tongue and a surprising devotion to her spirituality. I still get all warm and fuzzy when I see her on the screen, she almost feels like a mother to me in the sense that she was a hugely influential part of my childhood.

If she looks familiar to you, one of her most popular roles was in the Howard Hughes hit “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” in which Jane played Dorothy.

A glamorous and classy woman with the notoriety of a sex goddess , a funny and talented actress to boot. It is for these reasons that she is my muse of the month!

If you haven’t experienced the joy of watching Jane yet… what are you waiting for? Her entire filmography can be found online but some of my favorites are :

  • The Son of Paleface
  • Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
  • The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown
